Begin by reading these directions very carefully. You may need to keep this page open and come back to it to refresh your memory on the directions as you move to each next step. Today, you will be working on an activity that uses weather vocabulary in an authentic language setting. You have the ability to hear the dialogue and see the script both in French and in English. I would like you to listen to each slide first looking at the French dialogue and then listening to it with the English translation if you feel like you don't know what a word means. You'll need to be able to answer questions using the French vocabulary, so it won't do you any good to look only at the English translation.

1. Begin by going to this site. When you get to the site, you'll see a screen with a video and a button that says "Start." You're going to click on start and you'll hear the first slide. Notice on the left you'll see the French translation. After listening to it in French, you may click on the English translation to hear it again with English subtitles on the left. When you've listened to this slide enough, click on the button that says next. You'll do this several times until you get to the slide that plays the entire dialogue. After listening to the entire dialogue, return to the directions page and then move on:
BBC weather exercise

2. After listening to the entire dialogue, click on the exercise at the bottom of the page that says "Guess the words." In this exercise, you will hear the words, repeat the words for pronunciation, and then match the words to their meaning. Make sure you click on the icons on the bottom of the "game page" where you have a volume icon, an equals sign, and an arrow for next.

3. Now go on to "Build Sentences." Use the information on the page to complete the sentences in the exercise at the end of the page. Be sure to check your answers.

4. Finally go to the exercise, "Speak and Write" Do the writing activity first and then practice the speaking activity.

5. When you're all done with this unit, you may go to www.lyricstraining.com and try ONLY the song we were working on in class Friday. "Soleil" by Gregoire.
